Description & Cooking Information for Allspice:

Allspice is a berry from the myrtle tree, it is pea size and is from the West Indies.
Its taste is like a mixture or blend of nutmeg, cloves, and cinnamon and has a strong sweet-scent.
It can be purchased and used whole or ground.
The flavor increases the longer it is in or on food so be careful if you don’t like a strong taste.

If you are out of Allspice you can use a mixture of:

3 tbsp ground cinnamon
5 tbsp ground cloves
3 tsp ground nutmeg
3 tsp ground ginger

Mix and store in a glass jar with lid.

List of foods to use Allspice with:

Apples, Buns, Cabbage, Cakes, Cookies, Gravy, Meats,  Pickles, Sweet Potatoes, Sauces, Soups; Add a dash to Chocolate Beverages, Cream Soups, Custards, Pudding, and also with boiled fish, gravies, or sauces.
